Diagnosis for Hair Loss in Women
Dependent upon the pattern of hair loss, the diagnosis for woman can be straight forward or more challenging due to additional underlying factors. Hair loss in women is a complex condition to evaluate, requiring essential diagnostic testing to get to the root of the hair loss. Tests such as:
- CBC (complete blood count) – for anemia, blood loss and certain vitamin deficiencies
- Serum iron and iron binding capacity – for anemia
- T3, T4, TSH – for thyroid disease
- ANA – for Lupus
- STS – for Syphilis
